Small business websites

A small business website that gets you called, not just looked at.

Three sizes, three fixed prices, every one of them published on this page. You own the domain, the site, the analytics and every file at the end of it.

What you get

Three sizes

Single page

$2,400

One page on a domain in your own name, for a business that is mostly one person. What you do, who you do it for, what it is actually like to hire you, and how to reach you.

I write the copy from a written form you fill in, and you hold final say on every word. Three copy updates a year. No CMS and no monthly fee.

Business site

$9,500

The right size for one location, or a business of up to about ten people. Every page type you need: home, the services you sell, the people, articles, contact.

A design system built for your business rather than a theme with your logo dropped into it. A separate route to enquiry for every service you sell. Internal linking and page metadata done properly.

A photography session at your premises, arranged and directed by me, is included. Kinetic CMS is included, so you publish your own pages. Care is included for three months.

Multi-location site

$19,500

For more than one location, real page count, or more services than one navigation can hold.

Everything in the business site, plus the structure to carry it: a page for every location, an article architecture that still works at forty pages, and a navigation that does not collapse under it.

Photography at every location. Kinetic CMS included. Care included for three months.

The part you cannot photograph

Routed services, internal linking, and metadata written per page

Three things happen on every build that nobody puts on a proposal, because nobody can show them to you in a screenshot. They are most of the difference between a site that describes a business and a site that gets found and then gets hired.

  • A route to an enquiry on every service. Somebody who needs one specific thing you do lands on the page about that thing, not the homepage, and what that page asks them for belongs to that job. The enquiry that arrives says which service produced it. At the end of the quarter you know which part of the business the site is feeding and which part it is not, which is a thing you can act on.
  • Internal linking done deliberately. Every page links to the pages around it the way a person actually moves: the specific job up to the broader service, the service across to the person who does it, the article through to the work it argues for. It keeps somebody moving through your site instead of going back to the search results, and it is how a search engine works out which of your pages matter.
  • Page metadata written per page. A title and a description written for the page they sit on, rather than the business name repeated forty times. That description is the sentence a stranger reads in the search result before deciding whether to click you or the business below you. On most small business sites it is either missing or identical on every page, which means the decision is made on somebody else’s sentence.

None of it shows up in a design review. It is the reason one site produces enquiries you can break down by service, and another produces a number nobody in the office can explain.

Proof

A site built end to end

Wrenfield Estate Law

A demonstration build, made to show the whole thing running at once: every service with its own route through to an enquiry, a design system underneath it, and the counting live from the first visitor rather than added later.

The business and the content are fictional, so nothing on it is a claim about anyone. The build, the publishing and the counting are real and running.

The three things you are thinking

What happens if I want to leave.

You take the site. The domain, the repository, the analytics, the hosting and every file are in your name and were created with you in the room. There is no version of this where leaving me costs you your website.

Nine and a half thousand is a lot for a website.

It is, and there are people who will build you one for five hundred. What they are building is a template with your logo in it and stock photographs of somebody else’s premises. If that is the right purchase for where you are, make it. This is for a business that expects the website to be the reason somebody called them instead of the next result down.

Will it bring me more customers.

I do not know, and neither does anybody who tells you yes. What I will do is count what the site produces from the first week, by page, so you can answer that question yourself with a number instead of a feeling.

The price

Half to start, half at launch. On all three.

The price on this page is the price. I do not quote larger after the conversation, and there is no discovery fee in front of it.
